GEORGE WORTHMORE and the Divebombers are appearing at The Blues Room from Tuesday 22 April to Saturday 17 May. The band's
CD (George Worthmore and The Divebombers) is available here in South Africa and is
distributed by Gallo Record Company. The band includes Michael Canfield, co-producer of
the band's CD and drummer extraordinaire. (You've got to see this guy play the drums. He
is a National Association Of Rudimentary Drummers champion and his drum solo alone is
worth the price of admission). Arthur Neilson, the most sought after guitarist in New York
City club scene, playing the guitar of his own design, The Elviscaster. Making his first
trip to South Africa, winner of the Christian Slater look-a-like contest, bassist Timmy
Tindall. And of course band leader and guitarist George Worthmore, recent South African
emigre and owner of The Blues Room. |

This is a real
American band playing the guitar driven music they grew up with. The band plays a wide
range of classic American styles, Rockabilly, Surf, Blues, Swing, Be Bop and Rock and
Roll. The playing is incredibly solid and the band is always in the groove. Advertising
for the band's frequent performances at Manny's Carwash, New York's premier blues venue,
describes the band's playing as "virtuosic". |
